Small Rowan tree to be removed - James West of ETS Tree and Landscaping Services said it is dying and should come down. Dead branches overhang a footpath. Thin bark is splitting in many places and the wood underneath is dying. Tree has become lopsided.
The Paddock Hutton Buscel Scarborough North Yorkshire YO13 9LL
Revision to original withdrawn notification - one large copper beech tree to be removed. Blocking sunlight to three nearby properties - near phone lines.
Baynigg Main Street Hutton Buscel Scarborough YO13 9LN
One conifer tree to be trimmed back and height reduced by approximately 40%. This tree is impacting on the health of the boundary beech hedge and overhanging the lane. Proposed to trim back and reshape. Second conifer tree at rear corner of the garage is also impacting on the beech hedge, however due to the condition of the tree inside its branches it would not be possible to trim it back into shape and leave a viable tree. Aborist recommends the tree be felled.
Holmfield Beech Lane West Ayton Scarborough YO13 9JG
Crab apple (T1) - Fell as the tree is growing next to a wall and at risk of damaging the wall. Pine (T2) - Fell as the tree is growing near a building and at risk of damaging the building foundations. The tree has outgrown its location and now casts a lot of shade upon the garden. Cedar (T3) - Fell as the tree is growing near a building and at risk of damaging the building foundations. The tree has outgrown its location and now casts a lot of shade upon the gardeN. Poplar (T4) - Fell as it has outgrown its location and now casts a lot of shade on the front garden and suckers come up all over the drive. The clients are happy to replant saplings in better locations around the garden to replace the loss of biodiversity.
Salt Pan Lodge Newlands Lane Cloughton Scarborough YO13 0BB
Work was undertaken on 20/09/19 (crown cleaning and removal of dead wood) on this lime tree subject of the existing Tree Preservation Order. During this time a problem with one of the main branches on the tree (T1) was identified in that there is a significant cavity which extends along the full length of the branch with significant decay and loss of heartwood. This branch over hangs the adjacent pavement and highway and thereby presents a significant possibility of failure and therefore potential danger to pedestrians and road users. The Tree Surgeon has recommended the following remedial action ie to cut back all of the significant lateral growth back to teh primary branch (Tree 1).
Sunnybank Barn Broxa Lane Hackness Near Scarborough YO13 0JW
Sycamore (T1) Fell because of excessive shading, damage to property and potential for future damage to neighbouring property and own property plus low amenity value. Sycamore (T2) Pollarding, same reasons as above.
Ash Tree - removal of the upper part of the tree leaving in place a short length of trunk, two ash side-shoots and the roots. Recently lost a large branch.
West End Main Street Hutton Buscel North Yorkshire YO13 9LN
There are 3 trees, one sycamore and two beech. All are on the edge of the property, next to, and overhanging, Hackness Road. The extent of the work is to make the trees safe and to comply with the law regarding clear height above the road (5.2m). The work will include a "crown lift" to clear the road and on the garden side for balance. In addition it is intended to under go thinning of minor branches within the canopy (15% for sycamore and 20% for both beeches). The latter is to provide more light (dappled) and remove weight from the major branches. It will also reduce the effects of the wind resistance so enhancing general safety and wellbeing of the trees - and allow the trees to better flourish and concentrate on major growth. Please note that the crown lift will be 5.2m above the road but as there is about 1m drop between garden side and road the crown lift will be 4.2m on the garden side to maintain balance.
The Coach House Hackness Road Scalby Scarborough YO13 0PQ
Sycamore (T1) - Remove due to large cavity at the base. It is a very mature tree and is now in a state of decline. There are agricultural and residential buildings underneath so removal is the best option.
Mount Pleasant House Main Street Hutton Buscel Scarborough YO13 9LR
1 nos Silver Birch - fell because of excessive shading to two properties and low amenity value (in back garden). Replace with lower height tree (yet to be decided), preferences include fruit trees, cherry blossom, magnolia. Have conducted own research into the possibility of crowning the tree as an option but this unfortunately looks unsuitable due to the species of the tree.
Dale End Cottage Main Street Hutton Buscel Scarborough YO13 9LR
T01- Laryx decidua (larch) remove to ground level due to close proximity to nearby buildings and driveway, and prevent competition and allow healthy growth of preferred neighbouring tree (Prunus avium, bird cherry) T02- Platanus x hispanica (plane), remove lower 2 limbs growing North back to main stem to create more upright form as with partnered tree, and to prevent lionstailing and mitigate future failure, reduce by 2m areas of canopy extending outside if natural dripline to W. T03- Fagus sylvatica sp. purpurea (copper beech), remove to small branches directly over greenhouse and clean up previous pruning stubs
1 nos. Walnut Tree - Reduce crown as it overhangs garden too much causing excessive shading and access to lawned area. Prune back 2 branches off garage to prevent damage to the roof tiles/roof structure of garage. Arboriculturist to carry out works. 1 nos. Hazel Tree - Reduce crown (pollard) to allow light into garden and greenhouse. Note: previous application to fell a Silver Birch (NYM/2021/0107/WTCA and 20MRA08) will not be actioned. We have decided to keep the tree.

The work will be undertaken on 4 x Beech trees adjacent to the orchard at Home Farm, annotated B1 through to B4 on the attached site map. All 4 will have the crowns lifted to 4 metres above ground level. The work is required due to extensive low level growth resulting in excessive shading of the fruit trees, loss of amenity (view) and imbalance of the trees at the lower levels due to apparent earlier trimming on the opposite (eastern) side of the trees. The works required were identified after consultation with a local tree surgeon familiar with the requirements of operating within the National Park area.
T1 - Ash. Remove to allow room for garage to be erected. Replanting will take place elsewhere in the garden of a similar species T2 - Scott's Pine. Remove to allow room for garage to be erected. Replanting of a similar species will take place elsewhere in the garden.
15 Pickering Road West Ayton Scarborough North Yorkshire YO13 9JE
Request to remove 13 sycamore trees above a retaining wall that has been damaged due to root growth. This has resulted in the retaining wall being unstable above a children's play park.
T8 Sweet Chestnut - this has grown into a tall tree and some of its branches overhang East Ayton School buildings and playground. Some branches and foliage have fallen onto the roof of a wooden building and surrounding area. T12 Sweet Chestnut - this is adjacent to a private house and its branches have grown to touch the premises and brickwork. Both trees were subject to a professional inspection and report by Mark Feather on 15 May 2020 when both trees were reported as healthy. Proposed action would be to cut back overhanging branches to property on both trees.

There are 4 trees in total - 2x Ash (A), 1x Larch (L) and 1x Maple (M). After speaking to a tree surgeon, he suggested, due to the proliferation of Ash dieback, that it would be prudent to remove the two ash trees (A) before they succumb to dieback which could result in them falling into neighbouring properties land and/or onto our cars which are parked directly beneath them, causing significant damage. The Larch (L) is unfortunately diseased as reported by the previous owner of the property and confirmed by the tree surgeon. It is also leaning towards the neighbouring property which would pose a significant risk and extensive damage if it were to fall. The Maple (M) is causing significant damage to the garden as seen in the photograph of the root system lifting the path which is also causing a trip hazard. Our neighbours have also complained about the size of it and the impact on their garden. It is also a non native species and we would like to replace the removed trees with native species that are of a more manageable size (Such as Rowan and fruit trees).

Removal of a Lawson's Cypress Tree is requrested by felling and stump treatment. The tree is approximately 2 m from the rear of the cottage and is right up against the boundary fence with neighbouring property. The tree was well established but relatively small when I bought the cottage in 2012. Previous owner had built the deck around it. Although the tree has been trimmed it is now about 3m tall and 1m diameter. It is multi stemmed and some of hte trunks exceed 75mm in diameter.
Two yew trees on either side of church porch located on south side of the Church, require attention. They have been cut back a few years ago, but have now grown and overhang the path leading to the Moor Lane entrance which is also the designated wheelchair route into the building. The trees also overhang and virtually deny access to path users. Suggested action is to remove the 2 trees and their roots undermining the church porch and prevent continual cutting back to keep the footpath clear. Investigate replacement yew trees to prevent further problems.

1) Elderflower ??? Fell. The tree is causing damage to the garage, studio and workshop roofs and walls. Its too large for the space and it making that corner very damp and dark. We need to replace the roofs and repair walls on all 3 outbuildings and need the area clear to do this work and then to prevent further damage to the new roofs and walls. 2) Elderflower ??? Fell. It has grown too large for the space and it cutting out too much light to the vegetable garden 3) Cherry ??? Fell (If too much of it is dead) This tree looks to be about 50% dead. I would like to keep it but if the arborist recommends it should also be felled then that may be necessary. Hopefully by taking out the Elderflower tree next to it may come back better next year 4) Holly ??? Lift crown enough so we can walk underneath to mow the grass. 5) Ash - Lift crown enough so we can walk underneath to mow the grass. Currently lower limbs are grazing the floor. 6-9) This whole stretch is a mixture of Brambles, Ivy, Currants and Hawthorn. We want to cut back to an 8ft hedgerow to tidy up and allow more light into the vegetable garden 10) Variegated Holly ??? No Action 11) Holly ??? No Action
5 Castlegate East Ayton Scarborough North Yorkshire YO13 9EJ
Holly tree - we are seeking permission to remove this tree which has outgrown the position in which it was planted. The tree has reached a height of approx. 30ft (as shown on the photo) and its roots are beginning to cause the adjacent retaining wall to bulge out.
Manor Croft Yedmandale Road West Ayton Scarborough YO13 9JP
3 weeks ago a large branch split off Cedar tree marked No 1 in sketch. The branch fell across the fence dividing us from No. 43 Rose Cottage. I asked Tree Surgeon Shaun Dodson for advice regarding the safety of the tree. He advised that the tree should be cut down, also that Cedar tree marked No 2 as shown in sketch should be cut down as standing alone it may fall as it has only branches on one side. I have enclosed photos of the damage on the tree adn also showing how big they are and their close proximity to the main road and the pedestrian crossing. They would do an awful lot of damage if they fell especially if they fell across the road.
Cedar Cottage 41 Main Street East Ayton Scarborough YO13 9HL
