12/00288/TPO | Hart | Small | Rejected | Trees | PROPOSAL TO CARRY OUT WORK TO PROTECTED TREE1.Sweet Chestnut: conjunction with Mr & Mrs J Cottrell, we wish to apply for the removal of the Sweet Chestnut tree. The reason for this application is that this tree has now grown far too big for a town garden. It is overbearing and completely swamps the garden of No 16 Longmead, causing a significant area of the garden to be excessively in shade for the majority of the day. I am attaching a copy of an email from Mrs Cottrell which indicates the problems that this tree is causing to the family, especially effecting the children and their ability to use the garden for leisure purposes. In addition I am enclosing a number of photographs which demonstrate that this tree is far too close to my own house (No 19 Courtmoor Avenue), overhanging the roof, causing big moss problems and providing a route for squirrels to get onto the roof and cause mayhem and damage to the roof, guttering and lead flashings. I am very concerned that, in a high wind or snow or storm conditions, there is a real liklihood that damage could occur to my roof from falling branches and debris. There is also the consideration that this huge tree is only some 10-12 feet from the building line of No 19 Courtmoor so there is the very real possibility of potential damage to foundations. We are more than happy to take the councils recommendation if they believe it necessary to replace this tree, however on inspection, we are sure that it would be seen that there are already a significant number of tress in all the gardens in the immediate locality. | 16 Longmead Fleet Hampshire GU52 7TR | 20/02/2010 | Link | ||||
